Friends

I believe in angels,
The kind that heaven sends,
I am surrounded by angels,
But I call them friends.

Oh where, oh where has my energy gone?

What does it mean to say you are tired? I'm so tired. Especially today. But to say "I'm tired.", well what does that sound like to other people? Everyone is tired/worn out or just plain exahusted at some point. The tiredness I have felt since I've had my thryoid removed is impossible to describe. Of the symptoms and side effects, the exhaustion I feel is the worst cross to bear.

According to http://www.thyroid-info.com/articles/surgery.htm, the symptoms of being hypothyroid are:

"Symptoms of hypothyroidism include fatigue, exhaustion, feeling run down and sluggish, depression, difficulty concentrating, brain fog, unexplained or excessive weight gain, dry skin, coarse and/or itchy skin, dry hair, coarse and/or thinning hair, feeling cold, especially in the extremities, constipation, muscle cramps, joint pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, increased menstrual flow, more frequent periods."

I have nearly all those. Notice how being tired is included in there a few times: fatigue, exhaustion, feeling run down and sluggish, difficulty concentrating, and brain fog. Seems like even the experts can't label this tiredness.

I am going to have my thyroid levels tested on Friday and I'm actually looking forward to it. Not because I like being stuck with needles, but because I want my doctor to be able to increase my meds so that I might start feeling better.

This tiredness is killing my spirit. It's awful to being lose who I am to it. I can't function. I can't chase after my 3 year old. I can't get my house clean every day. I can't stay awake all day. I have to take a nap every day once my husband gets home. Most importantly, I just don't feel like myself. It sucks. :-(

Pink is love

pink1 (pĭngk) pronunciation
n.

1. Any of a group of colors reddish in hue, of medium to high lightness, and of low to moderate saturation.

Pink is a color made by mixing red and white and sometimes described as being a light red, but it is more accurately a bright undersaturated red. There are many different shades of this color. "Pink" was not a color word known to Shakespeare: it was invented in the 17th century to describe the light red flowers of pinks, flowering plants in the genus Dianthus, possibly named from the "pinked" edges of their petals appearing to have been cut with pinking shears.

Oh and BTW, I have pink hair now.

Spring has sprung...at least in my house!

Nothing says spring to me like tulips do. Abby and I picked out some pretty tulips last night when we went shopping.

Beware the Ides of March....

Today is a very blustery day. As I sit here hoping not to blow away, I find myself thinking that it figures that the weather would be this way because it's March. And as we all know "March comes in like a lion" and also the phrase "Beware of the Ides of March" don't exactly give the month of March a pleasant reputation.

I found myself wondering what the phrase "Beware of the Ides of March" meant, so I looked it up. According to an article I read in National Geographic:

The Ides of March have to do with the assasination of Julius Caesar. Hmm, who knew?

Mom the mediator

Here's my horoscope for today:
"If anyone can find a nice way to say anything at all, it's you -- even if it's a secret. Your skills at mediation and negotiation are legendary. At the moment, however, you'll need to leave those skills right where they are and keep quiet. No one says you'll have to do it permanently, but for now, 'mum' should definitely be the word. The only word."

Like it's any surprise that a mom would have good mediation and negotiation skills. My horoscope should say: Today you will be sicker than a dog, but since you are Mom the Mediator there won't be anything you can do about it. Forget resting because you will be too busy taking care of your family.

Mommies really should get sick days!
