Cancer update

This week I had a total body thryoid scan. The purpose of it was to locate any remaining thyroid tissue in my body. As we had expected, the only tissue that was found was in my neck. This is good news because it means that my cancer did not spread!!!

Next Wednesday I am going to the hospital to have radiation to kill of the remaining tissue. After that I will have to be isolated from everyone until my radiation level goes back to down to a safe level. Probably 2 weeks. I am really sad about being away from my hubby and kids for that long.

But happy because I get a chance to fight this disease. And after this treatment, I won't really have to deal with the cancer for 6 months. I will just have to see a doctor about regulating my thyroid meds. I am also excited about the thyroid meds because I will finally feel better when I take the right dosage (which may take awhile to get figured out). My oncologist also told me that I can expect to lose the weight I put on. I have to work it at too, but it will finally be possible for me to lose it.

I feel strong. I feel ready to fight the cancer.
